This piece is spot on. I live in Oregon and we recently emerged from an 8 day blackout. Massive power line and internet failures due to tree and limb fall. It's total uncertainty and anxiety. It was cold and dark by 5:00 P.M. Miserable.

I was better prepared then most people I know. No hot water but, a two burner propane camp stove ( I found that hot chow makes a loss of hot showers so much more tolerable) lots of batteries and flashlights, solar charged motion lights are highly recommended. They stay charged for a long time even with gray days. Safe for indoor use propane heaters and lanterns. Add a CO2 monitor to be sure and safer, just in case. Non-perishable FOOD canned and dry goods. A large cooler for meats and dairy. Canned tuna for my cats and me. A battery operated radio. (NPR saved the day and my sanity )

Texas had it much ,much worse. Because it's toxic Texas.

We did not have a Senator jetting his fat ass to Cancun. That's more of a Republican deal.

We also did not have $10,000.00 electric bills. That's also more a Republican thing. Oh, and we had no elected ,paid officials' like that jack ass Tom Boyd, berating us for being afraid and seeking assistance. That is definitely a Republican thing.

I have replenished my survival stockpile and added refillable, 1 pound propane tanks to my inventory. 20 pound propane tank will get you through quite a long spell without power. These are my recommendations to anyone.
